I sit here by my window-pane,
A cloudless sky above
And yet once more, yes once again,
I think of you sweet love.

Then as though, in answer to,
A secret wish of mine
I see the sky has changed its hue,
And silver clouds do shine!

My heart leaps up in utter bliss,
As though to burst in song
The rain is coming, yes it is!
The heavens dance along.

Each falling drop tugs at my heart,
As if to stir a melody
I’ll sing before the clouds depart,
A tune of love for you and me.

For ‘tis the first rain of the spring,
And what could ever be?
More reason to recall and sing,
Forgotten melodies!

Unraveling now, a tune I bore,
Deep in my heart but never knew
The rain will fall, the rain will pour!
I wait and linger, where are you?

The earth is brown, the skies are grey,
But oh, the colors that I see!
A rainbow! Watch the palette play
So come my love and dance with me.

The rhythm of the falling rain,
The sweetest ever sound
I give my heart to you again,
There’s music all around!
